A Half Life 2: Episode 2 scene created for a university unit - "Imaginary Architecture". This scene was made to appreciate and understand the work flow that applies to the creation of a single player level.
The aim of the unit was to demonstrate knowledge of the pipeline used to produce a single player level in a game - from research, to concept art, to blocking out and to the final art-pass. I decided to base my level on the recent protests in Cairo, Egypt, and drew some concept sketches based on secondary research. I then drew up an overview of the level, which would be suitable for a single player adventure game (think Heavy Rain), with the concept art in mind. The level was then blocked out using Valve's Hammer editor. I then modelled the necessary assets using 3Ds Max, and textured them using Photoshop. World textures were also produced using Photoshop. The assets were then added to the scene, and the block out was textured. HDR lighting along with per-poly lighting on the props was used in the final scene.
